A retired army officer, Chris Eze, has been elected Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State.
Eze, a former State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ex-Ambassador to India, was elected on Saturday alongside other members of the party’s State Working Committee.
Among other officials elected during the exercise are Prince Acharabuagu Kingsley, who emerged as Vice Chairman for Enugu North Zone, and Lolo Queen N. Nwankwo, who was elected as State Organising Secretary.
The emergence of the new executives is widely seen as a strategic move to reposition the party ahead of future electoral contests in Enugu State.
In his acceptance speech, Eze pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all party members and stakeholders.
“We will run an inclusive administration that will carry all members along in the affairs of the party,” he stated, while also assuring aspirants of fairness and transparency in forthcoming party primaries.
In a statement issued by Adolphus Udeh, the new chairman disclosed that the party had already begun strategic moves aimed at winning power in the state.
According to him, the ADC is positioning itself to take over governance in Enugu State during the 2027 general elections, with a vision of establishing a people-oriented and grassroots-driven administration capable of delivering democratic dividends.
