BREAKING: Three feared dead, one injured as gunmen launch new attack in Jos

Fear has gripped residents of Nyamgo Gyel in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State following a fresh attack by unidentified gunmen that left three people dead.

The victims—Luka Sandu Pam (36), Samuel Davou (38), and Deme Saidu (35)—were reportedly ambushed while returning home from Gero on a motorbike.

Eyewitnesses said the victims were part of a group of about 15 youths returning from a mining site when they ran into the attackers.

The Gyel Youth Leader, Dung Davou, confirmed that the group came under sudden gunfire from suspected armed herdsmen, forcing them to flee in different directions.

“We started hearing sporadic gunshots, and everyone scattered. Unfortunately, three of our people were killed,” he said.

Davou called on authorities to urgently intervene, describing the incident as part of repeated and unprovoked attacks on the community.

The latest violence adds to growing security concerns in Plateau State. Just days earlier, at least 10 people were killed and several others injured when heavily armed gunmen attacked the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area.

Residents say the recurring attacks have heightened fear across communities, with renewed calls for decisive action from security agencies to curb the escalating violence.
