An autopsy report has revealed the cause of death of fast-rising Afro-Fuji artist, Destiny Boy, two months after his passing sparked widespread speculation.
The young singer died on January 17, 2026, under controversial circumstances that triggered public outrage and calls for a thorough investigation into the cause of his death.
Following the incident, viral videos circulating on social media showed what appeared to be his body being transported to a mortuary, fueling rumours and uncertainty about what led to his demise.
In an attempt to address the speculation, an associate of the late artist had earlier claimed in a video that Destiny Boy was battling a private health condition prior to his death.
However, findings from an autopsy conducted by the Police Homicide Section have now provided clarity. The report, confirmed by police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi, revealed that toxicology tests found harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, as well as methamphetamine, in the singer’s body.
According to the report, the cause of death was identified as aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances.
“The Consultant Anatomic Pathologist reported that toxicology results revealed harmful levels of tramadol… as well as methamphetamine,” the statement noted.
The findings have now shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic loss of the young artist, whose death had generated intense public concern and debate.
