PDP Chieftain, Iroegbu Blasts Tinubu Over Complaint At Jos Airport

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dickson Iroegbu, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his recent visit to Plateau State following the deadly Palm Sunday attacks in Jos.

Speaking during an interview on Prime Time on Friday, Iroegbu faulted the President’s conduct during the visit, alleging that he failed to demonstrate empathy toward victims and their families.

The President had earlier visited Plateau State to commiserate with families affected by the killings, meeting with stakeholders and directing security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

However, Iroegbu described the visit as underwhelming, arguing that it did not reflect the expected leadership during a time of national grief.

“Things have happened all over Nigeria, and the president never visited. He finally visited Plateau, and it was anti-climax,” he said.

He also criticised Tinubu over remarks concerning a power outage at the airport during the visit, questioning the responsibility for electricity supply.

“The president has not demonstrated empathy or shown he is a chief mourner. He stops over at the Plateau airport, complaining about the light. Who should produce the light?” Iroegbu queried.

The PDP chieftain further argued that the President’s actions did not inspire confidence in his commitment to protecting lives, urging Nigerians to use their votes to demand accountability in future elections.

“Permanent solution… can only come from our thumbs to vote. Let us vote out a government that has failed,” he added.

The comments add to growing political reactions trailing the Plateau attack, as debates intensify over leadership, security, and governance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
