14-Year-Old Nigerian Boy Shot Dead In UK As Police Arrest Three Teenagers

A 14-year-old Nigerian boy, Eghosa Ogbebor, has been shot dead in Woolwich, southeast London, in a tragic incident that has shocked the local community.

The fatal shooting occurred on a residential street on Thursday afternoon, with emergency services rushing to the scene. Despite their efforts, Eghosa was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The London Metropolitan Police confirmed that three teenagers—a 14-year-old, a 16-year-old, and an 18-year-old male—have been arrested on suspicion of murder. All remain in custody as investigations continue.

Police said officers were alerted to the shooting at around 4 pm, and forensic teams have since been examining the scene to gather evidence.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the victim’s family, saying:

"Our thoughts remain with Eghosa's family and loved ones. They are being supported by specially trained officers and have asked for privacy at this difficult time."

She added that police have increased their presence in the area and urged anyone with information to come forward.

The incident has also drawn reactions from London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who described the shooting as “deeply troubling” and condemned the violence.

"My thoughts are with the family, friends and wider community in Woolwich following the appalling fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy. There is absolutely no place for this heart-breaking violence," Khan said.

The killing highlights ongoing concerns over youth violence and gang-related activities in parts of London, sparking renewed calls for stronger safety measures in affected communities.
