No fewer than 8,000 staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) are scheduled to sit for their promotion examination this week, the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, confirmed in a statement on Sunday.
According to Ezeh, the examinations—approved by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike—will commence on Tuesday, November 25, and will run for five days using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.
The assessment will involve staff across 165 cadres in both the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
Ezeh stated: “More than 8,000 civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory Administration will sit promotion examinations this week. The promotion examinations are scheduled to hold for five days, starting from Tuesday, November 25 to Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the National Open University Study Centre along Kubwa Road, Abuja.”
He explained that the examination marks the final phase of the 2024 promotion cycle and forms part of the Minister’s plan to motivate staff by ensuring timely completion of promotion exercises.
According to the statement, adopting the CBT format aligns with the current administration’s commitment to digitising the entire promotion process, a reform championed and approved by the FCT Minister.
The development follows earlier efforts to modernise staff assessments. On August 26, 2025, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and News Media, Lere Olayinka, announced the release of results from the first-ever Computer-Based Promotion Examination conducted on August 12, 2025.
During that exercise, 49 deputy directors across various departments were elevated to the rank of director after receiving the Minister’s approval. The promotion round also addressed accumulated promotion arrears from 2023 to 2025 for officers on Grade Level 16.
