The Presidency has reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration remains firmly committed to improving the welfare of Nigerians and residents across the country.
This assurance was given on Monday by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, who highlighted several landmark programmes the government is set to roll out in 2026—programmes he described as pivotal to shaping Nigeria’s long-term future.
Olusegun, in an enthusiastic statement shared on his 𝕏 account, said 2026 “promises to be a key year in the history of Nigeria,” adding that the policies lined up under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would chart a new direction for governance, economic growth, and national planning.
He urged Nigerians to support the administration’s reform efforts, stressing that the coming initiatives are designed to strengthen institutions, expand economic opportunities and modernise public systems.
Key Government Programmes Set for 2026
The presidential aide outlined several major policy actions expected to commence next year, including:
-
Implementation of the Transformational Tax Reform Acts, aimed at improving Nigeria’s economic competitiveness and broadening the national revenue base.
-
Full recapitalisation of commercial banks, intended to strengthen the financial sector and drive expanded lending, especially toward consumer credit and private-sector growth.
-
Recapitalisation of the Bank of Agriculture, to expand access to funding for farmers and position agriculture as a stronger pillar of the national economy.
-
Conduct of the long-awaited National Census, which will deploy biometric and advanced technologies such as facial recognition, fingerprint capture, and voice recognition to ensure accuracy and enhance national planning and security databases.
-
Complete automation of the civil service, transitioning from paper-based operations to a fully digital administrative system to promote accountability, transparency and efficiency.
-
Full commencement of operations for newly established Regional Development Commissions, designed to address region-specific developmental needs and accelerate inclusive growth.
Olusegun noted that the reforms, along with other government programmes scheduled for next year, will have long-term implications for Nigeria’s development trajectory.
He encouraged citizens to remain optimistic and supportive of the administration’s transformation drive.
“As patriots who want the best for our country, we must remain focused on this journey of transformation that matters without letting distractors win over our resilience,” he wrote.
Acknowledging recent national challenges, he expressed confidence that the country would overcome temporary setbacks: “Little challenges here and there like we had this past week will surface but we will overcome it all at the end, and the Renewed Hope Agenda will become a reality.”
