Veteran Nigerian broadcaster and actor, Patrick Doyle, has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of his newborn daughter, Omayinuwa Harriet.

The heartbreaking development comes barely a day after the actor announced the arrival of the child with his third wife, Funmilayo Doyle.

According to reports, the child was born on Friday, April 10, and was initially said to be in good health alongside her mother.

However, in a sorrowful update shared on Sunday, Doyle revealed that the baby passed away on Saturday, April 11, at about 4:15 p.m., less than 48 hours after her birth.

Describing the painful loss, the Delta-born actor noted that although her stay was brief, it brought immense joy to the family.

“Omayinuwa visited us briefly at about 10:40 am on Friday, 10th April and returned to heaven on Saturday, 11th April at about 4:15 pm. Her stay was short, but it brought great joy,” he wrote.

He added that while the family had wished for more time with the newborn, they remain steadfast in their faith.

“We would wish for a longer stay, but, alas, heaven thought otherwise. This much we know, though: God still rules in the affairs of men. Our faith in the goodness of God remains resolute regardless… It is well with our soul,” Doyle stated.

The tragic incident has drawn sympathy from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.

Recall that Patrick Doyle married Funmilayo in 2025 after his divorce from actress Iretiola Doyle. Funmilayo is a businesswoman and the owner of Funmidee Cuisines, a company known for private chef services and event catering.

The actor had previously spoken about finding happiness again after remarrying, describing Funmilayo as a supportive partner who played multiple roles in his life.

This latest loss adds to Doyle’s past personal tragedy, as he lost his first wife, Rosamond Ndidi Doyle, to sickle cell disease in 1999.

As condolences continue to pour in, many have taken to social media to stand with the actor and his family during this difficult time.
