Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, is currently presiding over an emergency Security Council meeting at the Government House in Katsina.

The high-level Monday meeting has brought together heads of security agencies across the state, alongside chairmen of affected local government areas, as authorities intensify efforts to address rising insecurity.

In attendance are representatives from the Nigerian Army, Defence Headquarters, and the Department of State Services. Also present are officials of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, prominent traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other top government officials are also participating in the crucial session.

The emergency meeting follows Sunday’s deadly attack by suspected bandits on Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, which left three people dead, including a police officer.

According to reports, the attackers ambushed a police station, vandalised a Primary Health Care Centre, and looted several shops in the community, heightening fears among residents.

In swift response, Governor Radda visited the affected Sayaya village to assess the level of destruction, including damage to the health facility and local businesses. During the visit, he met with residents, offering condolences and assurances of improved security measures.

The governor also sympathised with officers of the police command, particularly the Divisional Police Officer, over the loss of their colleague, while extending his condolences to families affected by the tragic incident.
