The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to embattled cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as Blord, following days of uncertainty surrounding his detention.

The court approved his bail on self-recognizance but ordered him to deposit his international passport as part of the conditions.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, confirmed the development on Friday after attending the court proceedings.

According to Sowore, “Bail has been granted to Linus Williams, popularly known as BLORD, on self-recognizance. The court, however, ordered that he deposit his international passport as part of the bail conditions.”

Blord’s release follows controversy involving the Nigeria Police Force, particularly officers attached to the National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja.

Reports alleged misconduct and abuse of power in the handling of his detention, including claims that a video showing him in custody was leaked.

Sources further claimed the footage was shared with social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

According to insiders, the video was allegedly recorded under questionable conditions, with claims that officers staged parts of the scene to create degrading content.

“The video showed Blord being forcefully awakened by officers who deliberately rattled his cell gate. It was staged to create degrading content,” a source alleged.

Additional claims pointed to a coordinated effort involving some officers and the activist to publicly ridicule the detained entrepreneur.

However, the situation reportedly changed after the court declined to remand Blord at the cybercrime facility. Instead, he was transferred to the Kuje Correctional Centre.

Eyewitnesses also alleged that the activist followed the prison van conveying Blord to Kuje, live-streaming the journey while mocking him.

The case continues to generate public attention amid calls for accountability over the alleged misconduct.
