2027: Another Oyo APC Guber Aspirant, Saheed Oladele, Resigns From Party

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has faced another blow to its 2027 ambitions as gubernatorial aspirant Chief Saheed Oladele officially resigned from the party on Saturday.

Oladele, a prominent figure from Ibadan North LGA, submitted his resignation to his Ward 4 chairman, ending a long tenure he described as being defined by "commitment and sacrifice."

Why he’s leaving:

While Oladele highlighted his efforts to foster unity and strengthen the party's structures, he expressed frustration over a "glass ceiling" for younger politicians. He noted that:

  • The party is unwilling to give young people a seat at the decision-making table.
  • Youth are often treated as "instruments" rather than influencers.
  • He intends to reposition himself as a bridge between the older and younger generations.

A Pattern Emerges:

This exit follows closely on the heels of Kunle Olatunji, another gubernatorial aspirant from Ona Ara LGA, who recently defected to the Action Democratic Congress (ADC). The APC now faces growing questions about internal cohesion as the race for 2027 heats up.
