Former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, has firmly denied widespread rumours suggesting he is considering a defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Thursday by his media consultant, Clinton Garuba, Jang dismissed the speculation as baseless, mischievous, and a calculated attempt to fuel political tension within the state.
“Jang Has No Reason to Leave PDP” — Media Consultant
Garuba reiterated that the former governor remains a steadfast and loyal member of the PDP, stressing that Jang’s political ideology and commitments “have not changed.”
“Senator Jang has no intention, contemplation, or reason to leave the PDP for the APC or any other political platform,” he clarified.
The media aide also refuted claims that Jang was aware of any alleged plans by the incumbent governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to abandon the PDP. He described such claims as purely imaginary, crafted by individuals seeking to cause unrest in Plateau’s political environment.
Speculative Reports Condemned
Garuba criticized what he described as the repeated and unwarranted attempts to link Jang to false political narratives.
“These speculative stories are unnecessary, misleading, and entirely without basis,” he said.
Focus on Party Stability and Plateau’s Political Harmony
According to the statement, Senator Jang remains focused on:
-
Supporting the strengthening and stability of the PDP
-
Promoting unity among stakeholders and citizens
-
Upholding the integrity of democratic institutions in Plateau State
Garuba urged party members, the media, and the general public to ignore the destabilising rumours and embrace responsible political communication.
