Security tension heightened in the Gado Nasko Road area of Kubwa on Sunday after the military deployed personnel and eight patrol vehicles in response to the suspected trailing of Lieutenant A.M. Yerima by unidentified individuals.

According to Vanguard, residents observed a convoy of military vehicles conducting extensive patrols around 7 p.m., a move believed to be linked to concerns for the officer’s safety.

A military source confirmed that the incident involving the lieutenant is under active investigation, though details remain limited pending ongoing inquiries.

How the Incident Allegedly Unfolded

Naija News reports that sources quoted by Vanguard alleged that Yerima was trailed by unknown men dressed in black and travelling in two unmarked Hilux vans without number plates.

The suspicious vehicles reportedly followed him from the NIPCO Filling Station off the Line Expressway to Gado Nasko Way.

Sensing the surveillance, the officer was said to have carried out a “strategic manoeuvre” that enabled him to evade the suspected assailants. The incident was reported to have occurred around 6:30 p.m.

The source added that investigators are treating the matter with “the seriousness it deserves,” while withholding further information to avoid compromising security procedures.

Background Tension

Lieutenant Yerima recently made headlines after a confrontation with the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, during an enforcement operation at a disputed land site in the Gaduwa District of Abuja.
The clash drew national attention and has sparked speculation about whether the latest incident is connected, though the military has not commented on any such link.

Authorities are expected to release more details once preliminary findings are concluded.
