Youth leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have told Governor Seyi Makinde to begin preparing his handover note, insisting that the people of the state are ready for a “new leadership direction” ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The charge was delivered during a press briefing at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, where the Oyo State APC Youth Leader, Comrade John Aremu, said the party’s youth wing had begun mobilising to unseat the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Oyo Is Tired of Poor Governance” — APC Youth Leader
Aremu accused the Makinde administration of slowing Oyo State’s progress through what he described as inefficient governance and stalled development.
According to him:
“The present government has held Oyo State in bondage, and the people are tired. APC youths are ready to deliver the political change the state urgently needs.”
He declared that the APC youth structure was ready to lead the state toward what he called a more progressive future.
“The ruling party should prepare for its eventual exit. Progressive young leaders are ready to assume responsibility.”
APC Reconciliation Boosts Opposition Strength
Aremu also highlighted the recent reconciliation between former governorship candidate Senator Teslim Folarin and the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, describing it as a “major boost” for party cohesion.
He said the improved relationship among APC heavyweights was a positive signal that the party was entering the next election cycle more united and strategically positioned.
APC Youth Summit to Unveil 2027 Roadmap
The youth leader announced that the upcoming APC Youth Summit would play a central role in reenergising the party’s youth base and setting the tone for its 2027 campaign.
According to him, the summit will focus on:
-
restructuring internal party units;
-
deepening grassroots mobilisation;
-
strengthening youth coordination across the state;
-
deploying digital advocacy strategies;
-
enhancing community engagement projects; and
-
promoting issue-based political campaigns.
He said the youth wing would unveil a comprehensive, youth-driven roadmap designed to reclaim Oyo State and accelerate its development.
“The Future of Oyo Must Be Planned Today”
Aremu maintained that young APC members are ready to spearhead a new era of leadership.
“The future of Oyo must be planned today,” he said, reaffirming the commitment of the state’s APC youths to shaping the next political chapter.
