IPOB Denounces Another Fake Ohanaeze Statement Circulated by Political Actors
The attention of all well-meaning Igbo sons and daughters worldwide has been drawn to yet another fabricated propaganda piece published by Daily Post Nigeria, quoting a ghost faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo allegedly “rejecting” the peaceful nationwide protest being jointly championed by Omoyele Sowore and other men of conscience demanding the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Let it be known to all that there is only one legitimate Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, ably led by Senator Mbata, not the disgraced impostor Okechukwu Isiguzoro — a man currently receiving medical treatment in India. His name and identity have been hijacked by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for political mischief aimed at destabilising the Igbo nation.
The Umahi–Isiguzoro Deception
This latest publication forms part of a desperate effort by Umahi and his political allies to undermine the Igbo struggle by weaponising fake factions and phantom statements under the banner of “Ohanaeze.”
Umahi’s desperation to ingratiate himself with those in Abuja has reached the height of political opportunism. By presenting a hospitalised patient in India as the “Secretary-General of Ohanaeze,” Umahi demonstrates his readiness to deploy deceit and manipulation to suppress the legitimate voice of the Igbo race.
Let the world note: Okechukwu Isiguzoro is not in Nigeria and has not issued any public statement. What is being circulated is the handiwork of Umahi’s fake Ohanaeze cell, designed to confuse, divide, and distract attention from the real issue — the continued illegal detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu despite multiple subsisting court judgments.
Recycling the Simon Ekpa Playbook
This strategy is not new. The same enemies of the Igbo nation once recruited Simon Ekpa to smear, derail, and infiltrate the Biafra struggle — turning a liberation movement into disarray.
Today, the same script is being replayed. Umahi’s fake Ohanaeze wing now serves as a propaganda arm to delegitimise a peaceful march endorsed by millions of Igbos and Nigerians of goodwill.
A Message to the Traitors
We remind Dave Umahi and his band of political contractors:
You may hold public office today, but you do not hold the destiny of the Igbo nation.
You cannot decide for a people whose history is written in courage and sacrifice.
No true Igbo son or daughter will ever oppose a peaceful protest calling for justice and freedom for one of our own — Mazi Nnamdi Kanu — who has endured years of unlawful detention for daring to speak truth to power.
Any Igbo politician who stands in the way of his release has betrayed his lineage and dishonoured his ancestors.
A Call to All Igbo Worldwide
We urge all Igbo people — from Enugu to Atlanta, Aba to Johannesburg — to reject these fraudulent narratives. Do not be deceived by fake news factories or the rented microphones of political opportunists.
The #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow march is not a protest of violence, but a protest of conscience. It represents the final stand for justice and dignity in a country that has normalised oppression.
IPOB’s Position
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu Global Defence Consortium (GDC), and the legitimate Ohanaeze Ndigbo under Senator Mbata, together with the Igbo intelligentsia, reaffirm their total support for this historic movement grounded in peace, justice, and freedom.
Those who impersonate Ohanaeze Ndigbo in service of Abuja’s political interests are nothing more than modern-day warrant chiefs — enemies of their own people.
History will not remember them as leaders but as merchants of betrayal.
Conclusion
Let it be clear:
Umahi’s propaganda machine has failed.
The Igbo nation is awake.
And the voice of truth cannot be drowned out by a fake press statement or a rented mouthpiece.
