The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the reopening of its online ticketing platform for passengers on the Abuja–Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), ahead of the resumption of operations on October 1.
In a statement on Tuesday, the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, said tickets can now be booked via https://nrc.tps.ng or at designated train stations.
Unyimadu explained that in preparation for the service resumption, journey times have been reduced following a review of the Temporary Speed Restriction (TSR), a move aimed at enhancing efficiency.
The revised timetable includes:
-
Abuja to Kaduna: Departure from Idu at 8:45 a.m., Kubwa at 9:10 a.m., and arrival at Rigasa by 11:47 a.m.
-
Kaduna to Abuja: Departure from Rigasa at 2:30 p.m., Kubwa at 5:12 p.m., and arrival at Idu by 5:32 p.m.
He thanked passengers for their patience during the suspension of services, which followed the derailment of a passenger train on August 26.
“The management of NRC appreciates the patience and understanding of our esteemed passengers during the suspension period. Safety, comfort, and customer satisfaction remain our top priorities,” Unyimadu stated.
The Abuja–Kaduna line, one of the busiest in the country, was suspended after the August derailment incident that left several coaches overturned. NRC confirmed it had since completed comprehensive safety, technical, and operational checks to ensure smooth resumption.
