The Irigwe community of Kamaru Ward in Chawai Chiefdom, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for promptly offsetting the medical expenses of victims injured in the recent Angwan Rimi attack.

In an open letter dated September 22, 2025, and jointly signed by community stakeholder Mr. Barnabas Musa and parents’ representative Comrade Raphael Joshua, the residents said the governor’s intervention came at a critical moment when the treatment of injured children had been suspended at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital due to unpaid bills.

According to the letter, confirmation of the full payment was received on Sunday through the Chairman of Kauru Local Government Area, Hon. Bashir Tanko Dawaki.

“Your swift and compassionate response has brought renewed hope and comfort to our distressed community,” the letter read.

The residents also praised the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmad, for her professionalism, and Dawaki for executing the governor’s directive “with dedication and empathy.”

Gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded Angwan Rimi village on September 15, killing two people and leaving several children critically injured. The victims were taken to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna metropolis, where their treatment was reportedly halted after families failed to settle mounting medical bills.

Following a public appeal by community leaders, Governor Sani approved immediate payment, enabling the continuation of critical medical care.

The Irigwe community described the gesture as proof of Governor Sani’s “people-oriented leadership” and prayed for his success in building a safer, more inclusive Kaduna State.
