The Lagos State Government has announced plans to further expand fire safety infrastructure across the state, following the commissioning of a new fire station as part of recently completed public projects aimed at enhancing safety and development.

The projects were unveiled during a two-day commissioning programme held from April 8 to April 9, 2026, under the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. The exercise was conducted on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by Godswill Akpabio.

Among the major projects delivered is the Tolu School Complex located in Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle, within Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area. The facility comprises 36 schools, a modern fire station, and a stadium equipped with 19 mini football pitches.

Officials say the inclusion of a fire station within the complex underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property while promoting community development.

Also commissioned was a multi-agency complex named after President Tinubu, designed to improve coordination among emergency responders and other public service institutions in the state.

Speaking during the event, the Controller-General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, praised the state government for its sustained investment in safety infrastructure. She noted that the new facility would significantly boost emergency response, particularly in densely populated communities.

Adeseye disclosed that with the addition of the Tolu Fire Station, the number of LSFRS facilities has risen to 25, marking the 11th station delivered by the current administration. She added that three more fire stations are at various stages of completion, with two already captured in the state’s 2026 budget.

The initiative reflects the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen emergency services and build a safer, more resilient environment for residents.
