Court Fixes May 26 For DSS To Open Terrorism Case Against Malami, Son

 The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed May 26 for the Department of State Services to open its case in the alleged terrorism trial of former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and his son, Abdulaziz.

Naija News understands that the case is before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.

At the resumed hearing, counsel to the DSS, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN), informed the court that an amended five-count charge had been filed to replace the earlier one.

He subsequently applied to withdraw the initial charge and requested that the fresh charges be read to the defendants.
Counsel to the defendants, Shaibu Aruwa (SAN), confirmed receipt of the amended charge and did not oppose its adoption.

When the amended charges were read in court, Malami and his son pleaded not guilty. The prosecution thereafter requested a date for the commencement of the trial.

The defence urged the court to allow the defendants to continue on the bail earlier granted on February 27, noting that they had met all conditions.

With no objection from the prosecution, Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the defendants should remain on the existing bail.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to May 26 and June 15 for trial.

In the amended charge, Malami and Abdulaziz were accused of engaging in acts preparatory to terrorism in December 2025 in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
