There was pandemonium on Wednesday in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, just hours after the state government relaxed the 48-hour curfew imposed following the deadly Sunday night attack in Anguwan Rukuba.
According to Channels Television, sporadic violence broke out in parts of the city, with unconfirmed reports suggesting fresh casualties.
The situation reportedly triggered widespread panic among residents, as traders who had earlier reopened their shops hurriedly shut down and fled to safety amid fears of escalating unrest.
Security presence has been intensified in affected areas, although authorities are yet to officially confirm the latest incidents or provide details on possible casualties.
It would be recalled that the curfew was initially imposed by the Plateau State Government to restore calm after the earlier killings. However, the renewed violence has raised fresh concerns over the fragile security situation in the state.
