Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, a former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, is dead. He passed away on Saturday at the age of 75 after a prolonged illness.

His death was confirmed by former NFA Secretary-General, Sani Ahmed Toro.

Galadima was a respected figure in Nigerian sports administration, having led the NFA before its transition into the Nigeria Football Federation. Over the years, he played significant roles in the development of sports both at the state and national levels.

Born in 1951 in Fagge, Kano State, Galadima began his career in sports administration early, serving as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council from 1981 to 1983. He later became a member of the National Sports Commission and was elected Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee in 1985, a position he held until 1987.

He was subsequently reappointed as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council and remained actively involved in sports governance. Galadima also served on the Presidential Monitoring Committee on sports facilities for the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship and was a member of the organising committee for the Confederation of African Football Youth Championship.

In 2002, he was elected chairman of the NFA, further solidifying his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most influential football administrators.

His burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family.
