APC In Big Trouble For Losing Kwankwaso To ADC – Party Chieftain
Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alwan Hassan, has expressed concern over the defection of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing it as a major setback for the ruling party.

Hassan made the remarks on Tuesday during a live appearance on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.

According to him, Kwankwaso’s political influence in Kano State poses a significant threat to the APC’s chances in future elections.

“The APC is in trouble for losing Kwankwaso to ADC. Kano is big for the APC. If we lose Kano to Kwankwaso in 2027, we are in trouble,” he said.

He added that the former governor has remained politically active and strategic since the 2023 elections.

“We lost Kano in 2023, and we will lose it in 2027. Kwankwaso is a master of the game in Kano. Kwankwaso had been in the market since 2023, and we have lost him to the ADC,” Hassan stated.

Meanwhile, another APC chieftain, Mohammed Jamo, argued that Kwankwaso’s exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) confirms that the party is no longer a viable political platform.

Jamo made this known during an appearance on Channels Television on Monday.

He maintained that the earlier decision by Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, and his allies to leave the NNPP has now been justified.

“There are always two sides to every coin. If we look at it from the perspective of many people in Kano, what has happened today is a vindication of our position,” Jamo said.

He recalled that when Governor Yusuf and others exited the NNPP months ago, the move attracted criticism, especially from members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

“A few months ago, when Governor Abba Yusuf and some of us decided that the NNPP was no longer a tenable platform for us to continue practising politics, many people said we were wrong. But today, we have been vindicated,” he added.

Jamo further noted that recent political developments have shown that their decision to leave the NNPP was timely and in the best interest of governance in Kano State.

“That means Nigerians watching us today will see that we were on the right trajectory by leaving the NNPP at the time we did and aligning with the Federal Government,” he said.
