Morocco made history at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup on Sunday, recording the largest victory in the tournament’s history after defeating New Caledonia 16–0 in a Group B clash — surpassing Spain’s previous record of 13–0 against New Zealand.
The young Atlas Lions displayed relentless attacking power, keeping their hopes alive for a place in the knockout stages. Abdelali Eddaoudi led the onslaught, scoring twice in the first half and earning the Player of the Match award.
New Caledonia Reduced to Nine Men
New Caledonia struggled under intense pressure, compounded by the dismissal of Typhan Dreuko and Jean Canehmez before halftime for dangerous play. Reduced to nine men, they could not contain Morocco’s attack.
Morocco’s Goal Frenzy
Taking full advantage of their numerical superiority, Morocco continued to dominate. Oualid Ibn Salah, Ziyad Baha, Nahel Haddani, Ismail El Aoud, Abdelali Eddaoudi, and Abdellah Ouazane all scored braces, delivering a ruthless offensive display that kept the scoreboard ticking until the final whistle.
Despite the record-breaking triumph, Morocco finished third in Group B, behind Japan and Portugal, and must now await results from other groups to see if they qualify as one of the best third-placed teams advancing to the Round of 32.
