Nigerian award-winning singer Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, has shared her candid views on love, relationships, and the kind of man she would consider as a life partner.
Speaking during a recent episode of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, the 45-year-old vocalist made it clear that she cannot date or marry a man who is financially struggling, explaining that her stage in life no longer allows her the patience to “grow together” with someone.
“I can’t marry someone who is not successful, and here’s why: first of all, I’m not in my 20s, so we are not growing together,” Waje said.
She added that for her, a man’s ability to lead, inspire, and provide vision is essential in any serious relationship.
“A man leads, and he leads by selling aspirations to me. I have to aspire to see him lead. And if he can’t inspire me to grow, we can’t be partners. So, success is part of it. Faith and emotional intelligence are also part of it,” she explained.
‘I Can’t Date a Younger Man’ — Waje
Waje, who is also a mother of one, further disclosed that she would not date a younger man, saying such relationships often create imbalance and frustration.
“We will have issues. I’m very pragmatic. Sometimes I have to hold myself with my siblings, my friends, and my family members. Imagine if it was a husband? He would get tired. I would be treating him like my child. He would hate me,” she said with a laugh.
