According to information obtained by Naija News, Oyeghe was apprehended on Tuesday by officers of the EFCC’s Benin Zonal Directorate.
The cleric, who identifies as an Archbishop and serves as the founder of Faith Healing Ministry in Warri, Delta State, was taken into custody after a viral video showed several individuals—reportedly acting under her supervision—spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church event.
The EFCC said the conduct clearly violates Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the national currency. The Commission added that it is actively pursuing other suspects seen in the footage.
According to investigators, Archbishop Oyeghe has already provided what the agency described as “useful statements,” and she is expected to be arraigned in court once ongoing investigations are completed.
The EFCC has recently intensified enforcement against naira abuse, warning that individuals—regardless of status—will be held accountable for violations captured online or reported by the public.
