Florida Woman Arrested for Alleged Exploitation, Abuse of 11-Year-Old Daughter

Authorities in Florida have arrested a woman accused of producing and sharing explicit materials involving her 11-year-old daughter, in what investigators described as one of the most disturbing child abuse cases they have encountered.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was taken into custody after investigators traced illegal content to a 38-year-old man with whom she had been communicating online.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, in a video statement posted on Facebook, said the woman allegedly created and distributed at least 14 illicit videos involving the minor. He called the case “graphic and grotesque,” adding that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the material was circulated further or if any financial exchanges were made.

“These are the worst kinds of child abuse cases,” Gualtieri said. “In this situation, it’s not only sexual abuse of a child, but gross exploitation of a young girl by her own mother to satisfy an adult’s perverse craving.”

The victim has been placed in the custody of her father under the supervision of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

The suspect, whose name has been withheld to protect the child’s identity, appeared in court on Tuesday, where a judge ordered her to have no contact with the victim. She remains in custody at the Pinellas County Jail, facing 41 counts related to child abuse and exploitation.

The sheriff’s office said more charges could follow depending on the outcome of the ongoing digital forensic investigation.

In a similar development in 2024, police in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, arrested a 24-year-old suspect, Godgift Bai, over the circulation of a viral nude video of a young girl on social media. The suspect was apprehended in Yenagoa following a report from the victim’s family, according to police spokesperson Asinim Butswat.
