20-Year-Old Woman Arrested for Stabbing Pregnant Woman in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old woman, identified as Halima Maina, for allegedly stabbing a five-month-pregnant woman in Maiduguri.

The victim, Aisha Musa, reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds after the suspect allegedly attacked her in her home at Njentilo area of the state capital.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, October 20, stating that the assault occurred around 1:30 p.m.

According to his post, Maina “entered the victim’s room without consent and attacked her with a knife, inflicting injuries on her stomach, chest, back, and face.”

Musa was rushed to the Umaru Shehu Ultra Modern Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and responding to care.

Confirming the development, the spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Kenneth, told Emmynet24 news media on Tuesday that the suspect had been arrested and exhibits recovered as evidence.

“I can confirm the incident. The suspect has been arrested and exhibits recovered. Investigation is ongoing into the case,” Kenneth said.

The incident adds to the rising cases of violent assaults and domestic attacks involving women in the region.

Earlier, Emmynet24 news media reported that the Yobe State Police Command had launched an investigation into the discovery of a female corpse near the Federal University, Gashua, on October 18.
