American comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, popularly known as the Knockout King of Comedy, has been shot dead in Southaven, Mississippi. He was 52.
The Southaven Police Department confirmed the incident in a statement posted on Facebook, revealing that officers discovered Carroll with multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
“Officers and medical personnel provided life-saving techniques, but the individual succumbed to his injuries,” the police said.
Suspect in Custody
Authorities later identified the victim as Carroll, a Baltimore native. Police confirmed that one male suspect has been arrested and charged with his murder, stressing that the shooting was an isolated incident and posed no ongoing threat to the community.
“Our thoughts are with the family of Mr. Carroll. Thank you to the community for their patience and understanding,” the department added.
Career and Legacy
Carroll built a successful career in stand-up comedy, gaining national recognition while touring with Katt Williams and headlining his showcase Knockout Kings of Comedy.
He also appeared in the 2000 edition of Showtime at the Apollo, featured in the UPN sitcom The Parkers alongside Mo’Nique and Countess Vaughn, and starred in the 2022 television film Rent & Go.
In 2023, he produced the comedy special Knockout Kings of Comedy, which cemented his place as a respected figure in the U.S. comedy circuit.
