‘Wike Deserves Urgent Therapy In Rehab’ – Dele Momodu Reacts To Minister’s Clash With Military Officer

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and veteran journalist, Dele Momodu, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his recent altercation with a military officer during an enforcement operation in Abuja.

Naija News reports that a viral video showed Wike in a heated confrontation with a soldier who allegedly attempted to prevent officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) from accessing a disputed parcel of land in the Gaduwa District.

The property in question has been linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (retd.)

In the footage, Wike accused the developers of lacking legal approval for the land and ordered the military personnel to vacate the premises. The confrontation turned tense after one of the soldiers defied his instructions, prompting the visibly enraged minister to lash out.

The video has since triggered intense debate among Nigerians over the limits of civilian authority and the conduct of public officials.

‘Wike Needs Help, Not Power’ – Momodu

Reacting via his Instagram page on Wednesday, Dele Momodu accused the minister of exhibiting poor anger control and indulging in excessive arrogance, alleging that such behaviour has become characteristic of his leadership style.

“He who the gods want to destroy, they first make mad… I had warned Minister Nyesom Wike endlessly about his lack of anger management, but he never worked on himself,” Momodu wrote.

The Publisher of Ovation International further alleged that Wike’s temperament and “penchant for land grabbing” had done more harm than good to the FCT.

“Too much alcohol is also not good for him physically, mentally and spiritually. It is the reason for his Messianic complex.

When anyone has found favour and mercy in the Lord, he should learn not to play God. Wike has wreaked enough havoc in Abuja with his penchant for land-grabbing and primitive accumulation of wealth,” Momodu stated.

He added that the FCT Minister “deserves the President’s pity and an urgent therapy in a rehab,” describing him as “a tragic hero intoxicated by power.”

Background

The clash between Wike and the military officer occurred during an FCTA inspection visit to a disputed land site allegedly acquired during the tenure of Admiral Gambo.

Wike has since maintained that the property lacked valid building approval and vowed that his administration would not bow to intimidation from any quarters.

The Nigerian Navy, however, has remained silent on the matter, declining to issue an official statement despite mounting public scrutiny.
