Nollywood actress and humanitarian, Sarah Martins, has expressed frustration over her inability to secure a suitable location for her charity feeding initiative in Lagos.
Naija News recalls that the actress, known for regularly cooking and distributing meals to the less privileged on the streets of Lagos, was recently stopped by officials of the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) task force for allegedly using public infrastructure without authorisation.
‘I Miss Cooking for Them’ — Sarah Martins
In an emotional post shared via her Instagram page on Tuesday, Sarah revealed that she has been struggling to comply with the directive to find an approved space for her outreach programme.
She admitted that the delay has left her heartbroken, especially as many of the children she previously fed have continued to ask why she has stopped cooking for them.
“It has not been easy on my side. I’ve been acting strong, but I’m tired of being strong,” she wrote.
“It breaks my heart to see these kids constantly yearning for my meals. They crowd me with every opportunity and constantly question me why I haven’t been cooking for them.”
The actress added that despite support and advice from Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, finding a safe and conducive location for her outreach has proven difficult.
“I miss cooking for them, and it breaks my heart that the constant smiles I brought to their faces were cut short. Getting a space as instructed by Mr. Seyi and friends has not been easy,” she lamented.
“I’m working so hard and praying even harder to get a conducive space as soon as possible because bringing smiles to their faces brings me immense joy and satisfaction.”
Background and Public Reaction
Sarah Martins gained public attention earlier in 2024 for her street-feeding initiative, where she personally cooked and distributed food to homeless individuals, orphans, and children in impoverished communities across Lagos.
Her initiative, praised for its grassroots impact, has faced operational setbacks since KAI officials reportedly stopped her from operating in public spaces without prior approval.
Despite the challenges, the actress has vowed to continue her philanthropic work once she secures a suitable venue, urging her supporters and followers to keep her in their prayers.
