Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti has launched a strong criticism against Nigerian businessman and senator, Ned Nwoko, accusing him of acts of cruelty and oppression toward residents of his hometown.

Naija News reports that Kuti made the allegations in a statement shared via his Instagram story on Tuesday, where he claimed that Nwoko’s alleged actions had caused fear and hardship in his community.

According to Kuti, the lawmaker nearly caused the death of the village king and attempted to forcibly seize communal land. He further alleged that nine young men from the area were unlawfully detained for years under what he described as false accusations of terrorism.

“Old people everywhere like Regina Daniels’ husband. Regina married such a man despite the kind of wickedness he has shown his community,”
Kuti wrote.
“He almost killed the king of his village and wanted to take the whole land of the community by force.
He was so evil that he imprisoned nine boys for years on false terrorism charges.”

The outspoken musician, who is the youngest son of Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, described the alleged incidents as acts of “wickedness” and said he was disappointed that such behaviour could come from a man in a position of influence.

Regina Daniels Draws Sympathy from Kuti

Seun Kuti also expressed surprise that actress Regina Daniels, Nwoko’s wife, has remained with him despite the allegations. However, he clarified that he does not blame her personally, instead linking her situation to Nigeria’s harsh economic realities.

“I don’t blame her, I blame the country,”
he added.
“If Nigeria gets better, our young girls won’t need to enter such situations.”

Kuti suggested that the country’s socio-economic struggles have made many young people, especially women, endure circumstances they would otherwise avoid in search of financial stability and comfort.

He is married to Regina Daniels, a popular Nollywood actress, and has been involved in several community and legal disputes over land ownership in Delta State.
