Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested four suspected vandals and house burglars believed to be behind a series of break-ins across parts of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday, noting that the suspects were apprehended during intensified patrol operations in Dambatta, Fagge, and Tarauni Local Government Areas.
“In the course of our determined effort and intensified operations within the state, we arrested some notorious suspected vandals and burglars who specialised in breaking into houses at three different locations,” Abdullahi stated.
“All the suspects have confessed to the crimes and were caught in possession of the stolen items.”
Stolen Items Recovered
Items recovered from the suspects include nine mobile phones, one bicycle, three standing fans, three solar panels, one flat-screen television, two bundles of wires, two burglar-proof windows, three MP3 speakers, one small solar panel, one power bank, and three vehicle tyres.
Abdullahi added that the arrests formed part of the Corps’ ongoing efforts to curb the activities of vandals and other criminal elements in the state.
Suspects to Face Prosecution
He said investigations had been concluded and the suspects would be charged to court soon.
“The NSCDC, under the leadership of the State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, remains committed to discharging its core mandates of protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, as well as the lives and properties of the public,” Abdullahi said.
He also urged residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or activities within their communities.
Background
This latest arrest comes weeks after the command announced on September 25 that it had apprehended 19 suspected vandals across several local government areas in Kano — part of its broader crackdown on infrastructure-related crimes.
