The Enugu State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with armed robbery and cult-related activities in the state.
According to a statement issued late Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the arrests were made during separate operations as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on violent crimes. Firearms, live cartridges, a motorcycle, suspected charms, and other incriminating exhibits were recovered.
The suspects include Okafor Chukwuka, 28, apprehended on August 20 with a locally made double-barrel gun, and Emeka Odo, 45, and Ugochukwu Eze, 35, arrested on August 18 for robbery and illegal possession of firearms. Preliminary investigations linked Chukwuka to an armed robbery incident in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East Local Government Area, where a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint about two weeks earlier.
Ndukwe added that Odo confessed to robbing a motorcyclist and selling the stolen motorcycle to Eze. “We will arraign the suspects in court once investigations are concluded,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to sustain the momentum. He also appealed to residents to support the police with timely and credible information, assuring that the Command remains committed to making Enugu State safe for law-abiding citizens.
