Obi's spokesperson, Ibrahim Umar, in the statement titled “Why desperate Obi traducers are kissing the dust?”, criticized the administration’s tactics, describing them as an attempt to distort facts and shift focus from the pressing issues affecting Nigerians. He noted that these comparisons highlight the government’s failure to address the nation's current challenges, particularly those brought about by its policies over the past year.
The statement further accused government propagandists of making frequent attempts to associate Obi with negative narratives. “For these traducers, it would be a huge omission for a day to pass without finding something to negatively link Obi within the media space,” the statement said, pointing to fabricated accusations and manipulations of his public appearances.
Obi also mocked the administration’s latest move to link him with Donald Trump, calling it a desperate attempt to win favor with the Democratic Party in the U.S. He dismissed the comparison as laughable, questioning whether calling him “a Trump” would imply that President Tinubu could be compared to Vice President Kamala Harris.
In contrast, Obi highlighted what he saw as a glaring difference between himself and President Tinubu, pointing to issues such as morality, transparency, and people-centered policies. He stated that Nigerians are too discerning to be deceived by such “empty propaganda.”
The statement concluded with a call for supporters, especially the “Obidients,” to remain focused on their vision for a better Nigeria, despite the government’s attempts to distract the public through false narratives. Obi reaffirmed his commitment to seeing Nigeria work, maintaining that he is not desperate to be president but is eager to drive meaningful change in the country.
