Nestlé Nigeria marked a significant milestone with the graduation of 20 young men and women from its Technical Training Centre (TTC) in Flowergate, the facility's first-ever graduating class. Launched in 2023, this centre is a key component of Nestlé Nigeria’s technical training program, which began in 2011. To date, over 200 young Nigerians have completed the 18-month program, reflecting the company’s commitment to investing over six billion naira in developing technical skills in the country.
At the graduation ceremony, Mr. Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director/CEO of Nestlé Nigeria, praised the graduates and reiterated the company's dedication to youth empowerment. He highlighted that this year alone, Nestlé Nigeria graduated 70 skilled professionals across its centers, including Agbara and Abaji. "Our commitment extends beyond skills training," Elhusseini said. "It’s about empowering young people to shape their futures, drive change, and contribute to their communities."
The TTC program blends theoretical instruction with hands-on experience and culminates in a City and Guilds of London Technicians’ Certification, enhancing the graduates' employability. The ceremony was attended by notable figures such as His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, and other distinguished guests including Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, President of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, and representatives from the Nigerian Employers Consultative Association (NECA) and the Alliance for Youth Initiative.
Nestlé Nigeria’s broader youth empowerment efforts are embodied in its Nestlé Needs YOUth initiative, which annually supports around 25,000 young people through various programs aimed at enhancing their economic opportunities. This initiative is part of Nestlé's broader strategy to prepare Nigerian youth for future challenges and opportunities in the industrial sector.
