Imo State, September 19, 2024 — During a meeting with the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Imo State Chapter, Honourable Commissioner Dr. Emeka Mandela praised Governor Hope Uzodinma for his dedication to promoting sports and youth development in the state.

Dr. Mandela expressed appreciation for the visit and commended the governor's efforts, citing the ongoing Pan-Nigerian Youth Governor's Cup tournament as evidence of his commitment to sports. "His Excellency has proven his dedication and strength towards sporting activities in the State," he stated.

The Commissioner urged SWAN members to enhance their commitment to sports journalism and talent development. Earlier, SWAN Chairman Mr. Cosmos Chukwuemeka acknowledged the governor's initiatives in the sports sector and the appointment of dynamic youth leaders in the Youth Development Ministry.

The meeting also featured various speakers who commended the governor's resilience and efforts in fostering sports and youth activities. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Benny Naza of Omalicha Radio.

Notable attendees included Anthony Ahize from Statesman Newspaper, Orji Sampson of Imo Trumpeta, and other prominent sports writers.
