Emmynet24 reports that the Maiden Broadcasting Day event hosted by the Association of Broadcasting Students at Imo State University, Owerri, Dr. Emeka Mandela, Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt in Imo State, praised Governor Hope Uzodinma for creating a conducive environment for media practitioners.
Speaking on Tuesday, 10 September 2024, Dr. Mandela, represented by Mrs. Joy Nwachukwu, P.R.O of the Ministry of Youth Development, and Barr. Bright Eluagu, Media Consultant, emphasized the critical role of broadcasting in society. He commended Governor Uzodinma for his efforts in supporting and enhancing the media landscape in the state.
"The broadcast industry is crucial for disseminating information about current events, social issues, and political developments. Governor Uzodinma has significantly contributed to this field by fostering an environment that supports media practitioners," said Dr. Mandela.
He also underscored the impact of broadcasting on education and encouraged students to uphold moral and ethical standards in their academic pursuits.
Other notable speakers included Dr. Declan Emelumba, Commissioner of Information and Strategy, represented by Mr. Ofoegbu, and Prof. Victor Kogar, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.
