Lagos, Nigeria — Guarantee Trust Bank (GTBank), one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, has dismissed reports that its website was seized by hackers as entirely false. This clarification was provided by a top GTBank executive, who spoke exclusively to DAILY POST on the condition of anonymity.
The denial follows circulating rumors that the bank’s website had been compromised in a massive phishing operation, leading to the interception of customers' data.
The source categorically refuted the hacking claims, stating that the bank is currently facing connectivity issues, which have no relation to any cyberattack. “It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking,” the executive said.
GTBank reassures its customers that their data remains secure and that efforts are underway to resolve the connectivity problem promptly.
