Akwa Ibom Police Neutralize Three Armed Robbers in Ikot Ekpene Encounter

n a recent operation in the Ikot Ekpene local government area, operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command engaged in a gun battle with a group of armed robbers, resulting in the death of three suspects. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Odiko MacDon, confirmed the incident on behalf of the Commissioner of Police (CP), Waheed Ayilara.


The armed robbers met their fate when they attempted to rob the NDDC Hall/National Museum in Ikot Inyang village. Responding to a distress call, the crack team of the Ikot Ekpene Division swiftly confronted the approximately ten armed robbers, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.


During the encounter, three of the suspects were neutralized, while one was successfully apprehended. Others managed to flee the scene, likely sustaining injuries from the confrontation. The police recovered a locally-made pistol, one expanded cartridge, one live cartridge, and vandalized wire cables from the scene.


CSP Odiko MacDon emphasized that the gang was notorious for their involvement in robberies in and around Ikot Ekpene. He reiterated the commitment of the police force, under the directive of Commissioner Waheed Ayilara, to tackle criminal elements and ensure peace and security in Akwa Ibom State.


The successful operation reflects the proactive stance of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in combating crime and upholding law and order in the region.
